A note about these links: I have hundreds of links in many many categories. But, I've only included my choices for the most comprehensive regarding human powered outdoor recreation. Canoe Camping
There are many pages on the internet concerning many different aspects of canoe camping. These are some of my favorites. Hurley's Journal of Canoe Tripping is a fine website covering all sorts of wilderness canoe trips. He also has a print version which is mailed out quarterly. A site that includes the Oconee and Altamaha River trips, along with 39 other great trips, is The Top 40 Canoe Trip List. Barry Cull's Wilderness Canoe Adventures is a great source for information about canoe camping.
Okefenokee Swamp & Suwannee River
Bill Logan has developed the most thorough site regarding canoe trips in the Okefenokee Swamp and Suwannee River. There's more information packed into Bill Logan's Canoeing and Kayaking the Suwannee River than you could find in six months of research at the library. Bill has both a book - and Video - that takes one all the way from the Okefenokee (headwaters) to the Gulf. The book covers just about everything one might need to plan her/his trip. Photos, Maps, river distances, paddling times, re-supply points, where there are and are not excellent campsites, gear checklist, outfitter's addresses and phone numbers, general canoe safety, do's and don'ts for the neophyte, and more. The video is 48 minutes of beautiful river scenery and info, starting with paddling in the Okefenokee then taking the viewer all the way to the Gulf. The book and video go hand in hand. Ordering info on Bill's site. Be sure to also take a look at Bill's diary of a St. Mary's River trip. The Okefenokee Swamp Education and Information Center has a wealth of information about the natural history of the Okefenokee.

Gear
Of course, the proper equipment increases the odds that you'll return alive. And, again, through the incredible information resource that is the Internet, there are very many resources. My two favorites are REI and Campmor. Both these sites carry a comprehensive selection of products. REI, a little on the pricey side, is also loaded with very useful information. Campmor has great prices, often on last year's merchandise. But, last year's merchandise was the best only a year ago -- my kind of shopping. If you want local, then I highly recommend Oconee Outfitters in Milledgeville: bicycling, paddling and backpacking all in one store. Tell them I sent you.

Books and Maps
Knowing where you are and where you're going can significantly enhance your enjoyment of a trip. Pete and Ed's Books is a great resource for that kind of information. See them, too for great bicycle related gifts and awards: Peddle on, dude
